Privacy & Cookies Policy

Stop Religious Coercion Australia (SRCA) is committed to safeguarding the privacy of everyone who visits this website. This policy explains what information we collect, why, and how to contact us about it.

1. Who we are

SRCA is a survivor-led advocacy group based in Australia. You can contact us at stopreligiouscoercionau@gmail.com about anything in this policy.

2. What this site does (and doesn't) collect

This is an informational website. We don't run user accounts, logins, an online store, or a newsletter signup. We don't collect payment details. The Donate page links out to a separate donation platform, which has its own privacy practices.

We do collect:

  • Anything you send us directly: if you email us (for a media enquiry, consulting, a tip-off, or general contact), we receive your email address and whatever you choose to include in that message.

We don't run Google Analytics or any other tracking script in your browser, and this site sets no cookies of its own beyond what's described in Section 4. We can see basic, aggregate traffic figures (like overall visit counts) through our hosting provider's own dashboard - this doesn't involve any script running on your device, doesn't identify individual visitors, and isn't something we can turn into a profile of who you are or what you looked at.

3. How we use your information

We use information sent to us by email to respond to your enquiry, and, where relevant to a tip-off, to inform our advocacy work. We won't share identifying details from a tip without your knowledge unless we're legally required to.

4. Cookies and similar technology

This site doesn't use advertising, analytics, tracking, or ecommerce cookies of any kind. The only thing this site stores in your browser is a small local flag remembering that you've dismissed the cookie notice, so it doesn't keep reappearing on every page. It stays on your own device, isn't sent anywhere, and can't be used to identify or track you.

5. Third-party links

This site links out to a number of external organisations: news articles, podcasts, Parliament of Victoria, crisis support lines, and our donation and social media pages. We have no control over, and aren't responsible for, the privacy practices of those third-party sites.

6. Data security

We take reasonable steps to protect any information sent to us. That said, standard email is not encrypted or anonymous. If you're sending us a sensitive tip-off, please see the safety note on our Whistleblower & Tip-Offs page before you do.

7. How long we keep information

We keep emails and enquiries only as long as reasonably necessary for the purpose they were sent for.

8. Your rights

You can ask us what information we hold about you, and ask us to correct or delete it. Email stopreligiouscoercionau@gmail.com to make a request.

9. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the site changes. This page will always reflect our current practice.

10. Managing cookies in your browser

Beyond the controls on this site, you can also block or delete cookies directly in your browser:

  • Chrome
  • Firefox
  • Safari
  • Edge

Blocking essential cookies may affect how parts of this site work.
